The facade of the Singapore Film Studios Building features PET Silk-Screen Printed Dual-Color (Grey + Mirror) Overlay Glass, a core material that delivers both the building’s distinctive visual identity and functional performance.
Visual Aesthetics: The dual-layer process of grey silk-screen printing and mirror overlay creates a gradient “translucent-reflective” effect across the facade, which shifts with angles and light conditions. It reflects the surrounding urban landscape while the grey print softens direct sunlight, lending the building a subtle, layered visual quality that aligns with its role as a cultural landmark and creative hub.
Functional Performance: The PET silk-screen layer blocks UV radiation and reduces solar heat gain, lowering cooling energy consumption to suit Singapore’s hot, rainy climate. The combination of printed shading and mirror reflection also minimizes interior glare, creating a comfortable light environment for film production and office spaces.
Innovative Craftsmanship: The dual-color overlay technology precisely balances light transmission and reflection, giving the facade an understated modern appearance by day and a delicate, illuminated silk-screen texture by night, delivering a dynamic “day-and-night” visual experience.
